About Mineral del Chico
Founded initially with the name of Atotonilco, the town of Mineral del Chico, of an undeniable miner tradition, is located in the Mineral del Chico National Park, so the attractive not only consist in the picturesque shape of the town, but in the unequal beauty of the surroundings and activities which invite to, making it a destination of great preference.
The town can win the heart of anyone with its adobe and wood houses, like in the times of the rustic villages, where you can get handcrafts, or delight the palate with the variety of cuisine. The most representative temple is the Parroquia de la Purisima Concepcion, rebuilt in 1819, a sign on the Mexican baroque.
The El Chico National Park shelters the community and it has become indispensable, in your visit to Hidalgo. Mr. Porfirio Diaz granted the status of reserve in 1898, being one of the first “formal” natural parks of the republic. It has almost 3,000 hectares overflowing of Forest Mountains where you’ll find installations for camping, shelters, areas for the practice of rappel, walking, trekking, mountain biking and many more.
Among the tourist resources available are: La Purisima Concepcion temple, El Cedral dam, Las Ventanas, Dos Aguas camp and selected flowers greenhouses; plus it offers a large variety of handcrafts, delicious typical dishes and ecotourism activities.
